Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Here is a quote from an interesting article:

“Men and women are, in fact, equally likely to be survivors of emotional abuse.”

“For male victims, the tendency of our culture to downplay emotional abuse as merely a “bad relationship” comes out in full force. People don’t believe that emotional abuse is abuse, and they don’t believe that men can be abused, and when the two combine it releases a storm of victim-blaming bullshit. They should just get over it. They should stop being upset. They’re whiny pussies for caring about this so much. God, why does this bother you, are you a fag or something?”

It’s still Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it’s important that we shine the light on our men suffering in abusive relationships. Emotional abuse plays a major role in Domestic Violence because it allows your partner to have control over you and the relationship in an unhealthy manner. Men are often emulated as masculine beings without feelings or emotions, but this is extremely untrue. Men have feelings and emotions just like women and they have a right to be treated fairly in any relationship. When they are abused society tries to make it seem like it is impossible to abuse a man when in reality they suffer just as much as women do. We are all human beings with the same humanlike characteristcs, no one has the right to shame or frown upon someone else, as well as treat them poorly. The domestic violence trend must come to an end on both sides of the spectrum.
